Meet John Edwards – a ministry development maven who joined The Timothy Group in 2014 with a mission to lift up faith-based organizations! Think of him as the Aaron and Hur of the nonprofit world (you know, those guys who held up Moses’ arms during battle?), using his knack for strategic planning and real-world experience to support ministry leaders when they need it most.

Before joining our crew, John was crushing it as an Executive Pastor, helping his church grow from impressive to wow-worthy – we’re talking more than doubling weekend attendance to 2,600 worshippers! But wait, there’s more – he spent 16 years as a Divisional Community Relations and Development Director with The Salvation Army, where he became their go-to disaster communication pro. From the Oklahoma City bombing to the Pentagon during 9/11, John was there, helping share these crucial stories with the world.

When he’s not speaking at national conferences or cooking up strategic plans for ministry growth, you’ll find this UNC Chapel Hill grad (go Tar Heels!) spending time with his incredible family – four sons AND four daughters! These days, he and his wife Marie serve as Elders at Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, N.C., bringing that same passion for service to their home community. Born and raised in Charlotte, N.C., John’s southern hospitality shines through in everything he does, whether he’s analyzing programs, developing boards, or helping ministry leaders take their organizations to the next level.
